Calvary Chapel San Angelo is a non-denominational church. We are affiliated with Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa, CA, and their pastor, Chuck Smith.
Calvary Chapel San Angelo was incorporated in November 1999 and has been worshipping our Savior Jesus Christ as a Body of believers since February 2000.
Prior to incorporation,
Pastor Tony Garcia
and his wife, Holly, had
been praying about
planting a new church
outside of their native
Southern Calif. At the
end of Tony's days at Calvary Chapel Bible College, he and Holly were invited to attend a pastor's conference in Plano, Texas. To their surprise, an e-mail awaited them from Rota, Spain, asking Plano's pastor to send someone to start a Calvary in San Angelo. That e-mail started a chain of events and coincidences that
convinced the Garcias that the Lord was calling them to Texas.
They were welcomed in San Angelo by a loving and helpful group of people, and the next morning, Sunday, February 6th, 2000, Calvary Fellowship San Angelo met for the first time in the home of Nancy and Warren Borders who were very instrumental in the start of the church. The small group met for a time of communion and the study of God's Word.
A week later the Lord moved in a powerful way through yet another instrumental family who graciously provided a newly renovated facility for the churchs use on Sundays for the next six months. Following that time, Calvary Fellowship was able to rent its own facility where we are presently located....
Calvary Chapel is committed to fulfilling the Great Commission given by Jesus Christ in Matthew 28:19, Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and for the Holy Spirit. In keeping with our Lord's instruction, CCSA is focused on reaching the unsaved and on discipleship in our community and beyond. Recent events in our nation have served as a stirring reminder of this need.
We believe that God has established CCSA as a resource for the City of San Angelo. To this end, Pastor Tony is serving as Chaplain for the Tom Green County Sheriffs Department. Through up-coming outreach, CCSA desires to tell our City about the comfort, peace, and blessed hope that they can have through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
All are welcome to join us at Calvary Chapel as we look to the Lord for wisdom and guidance in fulfilling His perfect will for San Angelo, for Texas, and for the utter-most parts of the earth. Come worship our Lord and Savior with contemporary music and the study of Gods Word, book by book and verse by verse.
